    34th Annual BEF Junior National Pool Championships Crowns 2022 National Champions Superior, Colo., July 6, 2022 – The Billiard Education Foundation recently held its 34th annual Junior National Pool Championships, Tuesday, June 21 to Saturday, June 25. The event attracted more than 130 of the top junior pool players across the country.


    During the event, the Billiard Education Foundation recognized more than 90 players as Academic All Americans, as they all had a great point average of 3.0 GPA or better. Of those players, 39 players had a 4.0 GPA or higher. Along with the Academic All Americans, the BEF also recognized Hayleigh Marion and Kaden Hillman as the recipients of this year’s Brenden Crocket Sportsman Award for exemplifying the ideals of sportsmanship while at the pool table with ethical behavior, fair play, and integrity throughout the event.


    During the week-long tournament BCA Hall of Famer Tom “Dr. Cue” Rossman also held his 28th consecutive annual artistic pool competition. Dr. Cue presented the 2022 Artistic Pool awards to this year’s champions: Brody Hillman (U18 boys division), Kaden Hillman (U16 and U14 boys divisions), Sofia Mast (U18 girls division), Hayleigh Marion (U16 girls division), and Skylar Hess (U14 girls division).


    On Saturday, June 25th the Junior National Pool Championships concluded with the final matches in each category. In an effort to align with the WPA World Junior 9-Ball Championship, the BEF awarded gold, silver and bronze medals to the top three finishers of each division.

    Introduced at this year’s BEF Junior National Pool Championships was the Michael J. Repici Girls in Billiards Scholarship. The new scholarship fund provided $1,000 to the three girls 9-Ball division champions. In its inaugural year, the recipients of the Michael J Repici include:

    • U14 9-Ball Champion Savannah Easton.

    Superior, Colo., August 13, 2021 – The Billiard Education Foundation recently held its 33rd annual Junior National Pool Championships, Tuesday, July 27 to Friday, July 30. The event attracted more than 130 of the top junior pool players across the country.

     

    During the event, the Billiard Education Foundation recognized more than 85 players as Academic All Americans, as they all had a grade point average of 3.0 GPA or better.     Today, June 1, 2021 is the Deadline to Register

    Superior, Colo., - June 1, 2021 – The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) today announced Seyberts Billiard Supply will be the official retailer of the BEF Junior National Championships, taking place July 27-30 at the South Point Hotel, Casino and Convention Center.

    “Seyberts Billiard Supply loves giving back to the sport,” said Sid Kreis of Seyberts. “Given this event is all about junior play, we simply can’t think of a better event to get behind and support. We are proud to support one of the most important slate of events on the calendar annually as it provides the infrastructure for our sports’ future.”

An open field of male and female junior competitors who are 18 and under (won’t turn 19 in 2021), will take place alongside the 33rd Annual BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships presented by Iwan Simonis and another new open event, the 2021 BEF Junior National 10-Ball Championships for players who are 22 and under (won’t turn 23 in 2021). The event will also feature the return of the Artistic Pool Challenge.

    Superior, Colo., April 30, 2021 – The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) today announced “Mr 626” John Schmidt will be the keynote speaker at the 33rd annual BEF Junior National Championships awards banquet on Friday, July 30.  

     

    “On May 27, 2019 John Schmidt surpassed Willie Mosconi’s 65-year-old record of 526, when he ran 626 balls in a 14.1 straight pool exhibition,” said Shane Tyree, BEF associate director. “I was one of the first people able to witness John’s amazing record-breaking achievement and it is our honor to have him come share his story of dedication, perseverance and inspiration with the junior pool players and their families at this year’s award banquet.”

     

    In addition to his 626 run, John’s list of pool playing achievements include: twice playing as a member of Team USA in the Mosconi Cup (2006, 2014); 2006 US Open champion; 2012 American 14.1 champion; 2012 14.1 World Tournament champion; and, 2018 Derby City Classic 14.1 Challenge champion. He is also the only living player known with eight runs of 400+ and 204 runs over 200 in 14.1 straight pool.

     

    “I devoted a lot of my pool playing career to breaking Mosconi’s 526 record,” John Schmidt said. “It’s really the only true record in pool, and now, to be able to share my experience with the next generation of pool players at the BEF Junior National Championships is something that makes me very proud and excited.”

     

    This year’s event will feature an “open” registration for any junior competitor wanting to compete in the country’s National Junior Pool Championship and will take place at the South Point, Hotel, Casino and Convention Center in Las Vegas, July 27 – 31, alongside the BCA Billiard and Home Leisure Expo.

     

    This year, the BEF Junior National Championships will have three categories in the 9-Ball division, presented by Iwan Simonis, for boys and girls. The categories include: 14&U* (cannot turn 15 in 2021); 16&U* (cannot turn 17 in 2021); and, 18&U (cannot turn 19 in 2021). *Divisions are based on minimum field or players will participate in the open divisions.

     

    Allocations for the prestigious 2021 Predator World Junior Pool Championship, September 9 – 11, at the Rio in Las Vegas, will be provided to the top three finishers in the boys open 18&U 9-Ball division, the top five finishers in the boys 16&U 9-Ball division, and in the girls open 18&U 9-Ball division.  

     

    This year’s BEF Junior National Championship will include two new events: a 21&U 10-Ball National Championship (min. age 18), and an 18&U Junior National 8-Ball Championship (this event is sold out, but if you are interested, please sign up on the waitlist on the 8-Ball registration site). Both of these new events will feature an open field of male and female competitors.

    Rasson USA Supports Youth Billiards Through Charity Table Auction

    November 14, 2019 (Las Vegas, NV) – Rasson Billiards and their exclusive United States distributor, Imperial, are partnering with Matchroom Pool and the Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) to host a charity auction for the 9-foot Rasson OX arena table played on during the partypoker Mosconi Cup XXVI. Beginning Saturday, November 23, Rasson USA will be taking bids for the Rasson OX until December 2, with all proceeds to be donated to the BEF.

    The OX is the latest table from Rasson Billiards and is the official table of the partypoker Mosconi Cup XXVI. The winner of the charity auction will be one of the first to own an OX in the U.S., with the table having been released on the market in November of 2019. Upon completion of the tournament, the table’s cloth will be removed and signed by each pro player at the event. The table will also come with a certificate of authenticity and an engraved plaque identifying it as the partypoker Mosconi Cup XXVI Arena Table.

    100 percent of all proceeds from the auction will be designated to the BEF to support youth billiards. The BEF was formed in 1993 as a nonprofit charity with a mission to promote a lifelong love of pool and build the next generation of players through youth programs and academic scholarships. “The Billiard Education Foundation is extremely grateful that Rasson and their U.S. distributor, Imperial, have chosen us to be the recipient of the funds from this amazing auction,” said BEF Managing Director and BCA CEO Rob Johnson. “What a great example of a leading company in our industry stepping up to support junior players with opportunities to compete in tournaments nationally and internationally, receive ongoing coaching and instruction and obtain educational scholarships. We will continue to strive to promote, operate and grow our junior programs.”

    The OX is equipped with Rasson-designed and patented Slate Leveling and Leg Leveling Systems, Thermo-Plastic rubber pockets, 30mm thick premium slate, Klematch cushion rubber, aluminum support beams, and Adamath rails that are warp, scratch and heat resistant. The OX has been designated as the official table of the partypoker Mosconi Cup, replacing the Rasson Victory II Plus, which previously held the title. "We're thrilled to have so many top players from all over the world play on the OX,” said Junny Song, General Manager of Rasson Billiards. “We believe that whoever this table goes to after the event will enjoy many good years playing on it and we're more than excited to be able to give back to youth billiards and support the development of this sport!"

    31st Annual BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships Results

    Presented by Iwan Simonis Crowns the 2019 Champions

    The Billiard Education Foundation recently held its 31st annual Junior National 9-Ball Championships, presented by Iwan Simonis, Tuesday, July 23 to Saturday, July 27. The event attracted more than 170 of the top junior pool players in the country.

    During the event the Billiard Education Foundation recognized more than 100 players as Academic All Americans, as they all had a great point average of 3.0 or better. Along with the Academic All Americans, the BEF also recognized Joey Tate and Patricia Huber as the recipients of this year's Brendan Crockett Sportsman Award for exemplifying the ideals of sportsmanship while at the table with ethical behavior, fair play, and integrity throughout the event.

    During the week long tournament BCA Hall of Famer Tom "Dr. Cue" Rossman also made his 26th consecutive appearance and held his annual artistic pool competition.
