Krafczik Crowned 2015 Colorado Junior State 9-Ball Champion

The 10th Annual Colorado Junior State 9-Ball Championships was held at Felt Billiards in Englewood, Colorado January 18, 2015 with 16-year-old Seth Krafczik taking the gold home to Nebraska. For the second year in a row, this prestigious title has left the state. Reigning champion Nathan Diederich of Victorville, California was not present this year to defend his title.

This labor of love organized by “The Viper” Melissa Little drew its largest field to date of 29 players from all over the state, including Nebraska and Arizona. It’s a handicapped event wherein players ages 11 and under raced to 3 games, ages 12-15 raced to 5, and ages 16-18 raced to 7.

17-year-old Taren Stewart defeated Krafczik in the winner-side finals, only to face him again in the two-set finale with reversed scores. Krafczik received a custom trophy, engraved custom Jacoby cue, paid entry into the 2015 BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships, a $200 Academic Scholarship courtesy of Felt Billiards, a Bullseye Billiards game set, and gift bag.

14-year-old Hunter Stoops eliminated Michael Dale of Prescott Valley, Arizona to take 3rd in the event, also finishing Top 14 & Under player to receive a custom trophy, paid entry into the 2015 BEF Junior National Championships, a Johnny Archer Scorpion Cue, and a gift bag. 11-year-old Amanda Campbell finished in the final 8 to claim the award for top finishing girl in the event.

All participants received goody bags made courtesy of Melissa Little, Billiard Education Foundation, and aBilliards.com. Additional prizes were donated by Felt, Jacoby Custom Cues, Bullseye Billiards, and Scorpion Cues. Special Thanks to Melissa Little, Audra Wasson, Rudy Kaluza, and Jeremiah Gage for volunteering their time to promote and support this event. Thanks also to all the participants this weekend and their families.
